Welcome, and thanks for stopping by!
I’m dave, and I’m a woodturner and beekeeper, and this is my gallery site. Woodturning is a certainly a passion, and I enjoy the time I can spend at the lathe. I am captivated by the process of turning timber into form, and my favorite way to turn is to center and balance the timber and turn what the timber tells me will work.

Woodturning is a full-sensory experience; a dance. You gotta listen to the wood!

The timbers I use when turning are typically rescued, recycled and recovered from logging operations, arborist cuttings and storm damaged trees in and around Traverse City, Michigan. (Sometimes, there's even some old barn wood!)

I have found that I really enjoy teaching the craft, and I believe my enthusiasm helps others find the joy in turning. It’s a happy place, a safe space, and a smiling face!

I wish to share that I’m in my 8th year as a beekeeper. I am a military veteran and have been involved with the Heroes To Hives program for 9 years. During that time, I got the chance to serve on the H2H advisory board, so I also like to talk about pollinators, and beekeeping as therapy! (If you’re a military veteran, "Thank You" for serving with me. And... I should mention I might talk one of your ears off about it all.)

Are videos more your style? I also broadcast live on Twitch.tv on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (link below). Did you miss a broadcast? You can find the recorded videos on my Youtube channel, link in the header above.

Since you’re here, I invite you to take a look around the galleries and the store! I do my best to keep things updated, and remind you that most items are unique and singular. If you find a piece that you like but has been sold, it is likely I can create a similar (but also unique and singular) item for you! If you see an item you wish to have multiples of, I also accept commissions; please contact me to discuss details and terms!

Are you looking for a quality demonstrator for your club or venue? Please contact me to book it!

I also accept commissions for production run items; please contact me to discuss details and terms!
