Pierced Honeybee box

$520.00

This box was turned to less than 1/4” in thickness from a piece of Maple crotchwood recovered in Michigan. I enjoy turning bee- and flower-themed objects (dragonflies are cool, too!) because I am also a beekeeper. The design was carved with dental tools, while preserving as much of the natural features of insect damage, bark inclusions, spalting and grain “feathering” as possible. The Cocobolo for the finial was sourced from Central America.

The piece measures as an 11” x 11” x 11” triangle and is 8” tall.
